AutoVignet Kft. is an official reseller partner of Nemzeti Mobilfizetési Zrt., authorised to use its trademark, for the online sale of Hungarian motorway vignettes (e-vignettes). This policy governs the cancellation, amendment and refund of road use entitlements (motorway vignettes, e-vignettes) purchased on the websites of AutoVignet Kft. (hereinafter: the Service Provider).
1. Immediate registration and loss of the right of withdrawal
Before initiating payment, the User expressly requests the immediate registration of the e-vignette by means of a separate declaration and consents to the performance of the service beginning before the expiry of the 14-day withdrawal period. At the same time, the User acknowledges that, once the service has been fully performed, they will lose their right of withdrawal pursuant to Section 29(1)(a) of Hungarian Government Decree 45/2014. (II. 26.). The mere commencement of performance does not in itself result in the loss of this right. The provisions on the consumer's right of withdrawal apply to customers who qualify as consumers.
The Service Provider begins processing the order following successful payment. The e-vignette registration service is fully performed when the vignette identifier has been issued on the basis of the information provided and approved by the User, and the electronic confirmation of issuance has been made available to the User.
Performance of the service is not the same as the start of the e-vignette's validity period. Registration of an e-vignette purchased with a later start date may also be completed immediately after purchase. A later start date therefore does not preserve the right of withdrawal.
An order approved through the issuance of a vignette identifier cannot be cancelled or amended in the Service Provider's order system. Once the service has been duly and fully performed and the right of withdrawal has ceased, the Service Provider does not undertake to grant voluntary refunds beyond those required by mandatory law. This does not affect the exceptions detailed in this policy or access to the toll service provider's official procedures.
2. Checking and approving the order
Before finalising the purchase, the User must check the order details, the parameters of the selected e-vignette, and the total amount payable and its currency. Both the checkout summary and the payment interface display the final amount, including all fees charged by the Service Provider. The amount and currency approved at checkout do not change when proceeding to the payment interface.
Finalising the order requires acceptance of the General Terms and Conditions and the Refund Policy, confirmation that the Privacy Notice has been read, and a declaration concerning immediate performance. Acceptance and confirmation are given by ticking the relevant checkbox.
Before giving approval, the User must check the information displayed and read the declarations. If any information is missing or unclear, or a malfunction is detected, please contact Customer Service (email: info@autovignet.hu) for assistance before continuing with the purchase. Finalising the purchase does not in itself preclude reporting an error discovered later.
3. The User's obligations to check information
The Service Provider fulfils the order on the basis of the information provided and approved by the User. The service does not include individually checking vehicle details against the vehicle registration certificate or checking road use entitlements previously purchased for the vehicle, including from other sellers.
In particular, the User is responsible for and required to:
- accurately provide the correct vehicle registration number, country code, toll category, geographical coverage and validity period, as well as contact details;
- check whether they already hold a road use entitlement that covers all or part of the intended road use;
- wait for confirmation of successful issuance (the confirmation email and the final summary screen following successful payment), check the information it contains and ensure that the entitlement is valid.
Successful payment alone does not confirm successful issuance of the e-vignette. Before using a toll road section, the User must ensure that they hold a road use entitlement valid for the correct vehicle, area and period.
The acknowledgement notification serves as proof of the electronic purchase: the final summary screen following successful payment and the confirmation email.
The Service Provider is not liable for any surcharge, additional expense or other detriment arising exclusively from incorrect information provided by the User, an incorrect selection by the User, or road use commenced without the appropriate entitlement. The same applies to the consequences of a notification failing solely because an incorrect email address or telephone number was provided. The validity of a motorway vignette purchased on our website can be checked at the following link: https://en.autovignet.hu/validity-check/
4. Circumstances that do not in themselves justify a refund
Following due performance in accordance with Section 1 and the loss of the right of withdrawal, the following do not in themselves give rise to a claim for a refund from the Service Provider:
- cancellation of or changes to the trip;
- non-use or only partial use of the e-vignette;
- incorrect information provided by the User, in particular an incorrect vehicle registration number, country code, toll category, geographical coverage or validity period;
- the mistaken purchase of a Hungarian e-vignette instead of a vignette for another country, despite the order process expressly indicating that it applies to Hungary;
- ordering multiple e-vignettes, including where the User already held an entitlement for the same vehicle covering the same or a partly overlapping period.
Purchases finalised separately by the User constitute separate orders, which the Service Provider fulfils separately. This also applies where the User repeats an order because they are uncertain about the outcome of an earlier purchase, or purchases multiple e-vignettes with identical details and validity.
Additional expenses arising exclusively from such repeated orders by the User cannot be passed on to the Service Provider. If the status of an order is uncertain, the outcome of the earlier order must therefore be checked before making another purchase, with assistance from Customer Service if necessary (email: info@autovignet.hu).
Section 8 applies to any official vignette buyback and correction of information.
5. Exceptions: defective performance, failed issuance and incorrect charges
The refund restrictions do not affect claims arising from defective performance, non-performance or charges without a legal basis, and do not exclude the exercise of any statutory right of withdrawal or termination that still exists.
Accordingly:
- Failed issuance: if issuance of the e-vignette definitively fails (the Service Provider will inform the User of this by email), the Service Provider will refund the amount paid for the unfulfilled order. The Service Provider will initiate the refund within 24 hours. It may take a few days for the refunded amount to be credited to the bank account, depending on the User's financial services provider.
- Erroneous multiple charges: if the amount for a single order has been charged more than once due to a technical error, the Service Provider will refund the excess amount collected without a legal basis. This is distinct from purchases individually approved by the User.
- Issuance differing from the order: if the details of the issued e-vignette differ from the information approved by the User, the Service Provider will investigate the discrepancy and resolve the claim in accordance with applicable law. The information provided by the User and approved during the purchase process can be checked in the confirmation email and in the Customer Account.
Any individual goodwill measure applies solely to the case concerned and does not constitute a general undertaking to buy back vignettes or provide refunds.
6. Complaints and bank chargeback procedures
In the event of a disputed purchase, missing electronic confirmation (the confirmation email and the final summary screen displayed following successful payment), or a detected error, we recommend contacting Customer Service as soon as possible (email: info@autovignet.hu), so that the circumstances of the order and its fulfilment can be clarified directly.
The recommendation to contact us directly does not restrict the User's options for making complaints or enforcing their rights. The User may also contact their card-issuing financial institution, a consumer protection authority, an alternative dispute resolution body or a court, in accordance with the applicable procedural rules.
In the event of a bank chargeback procedure, the Service Provider will, at the payment service provider's request, present its position using the documents available to it. These include, in particular:
- the details, amount and currency of the approved order;
- the content of the accepted declarations;
- the issued e-vignette, the electronic confirmations and the related correspondence.
Information is disclosed to the extent necessary for the procedure, in accordance with the applicable data protection provisions and the Privacy Notice.
The Service Provider does not charge any separate fee, cost or penalty solely because a complaint or chargeback procedure has been initiated.
7. Language versions
This policy is available in several languages. The Hungarian text serves as the basis for comparing the language versions. In the event of discrepancies or differences, the Hungarian version shall prevail.
8. Available procedures concerning issued e-vignettes
Certain requests for amendments, vignette buybacks and surcharge handling relating to issued Hungarian e-vignettes can be dealt with by the customer service department of Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt. – Útdíj Üzletág, subject to the conditions of the relevant procedure. These include, in particular:
- transferring an e-vignette to another vehicle;
- correcting an incorrect toll category, vehicle registration number or country code;
- the buyback of an e-vignette or the resolution of duplicate or multiple purchases.
If the User has purchased an e-vignette with incorrect details, purchased multiple entitlements for the same vehicle for identical or overlapping periods, wishes to request a transfer or buyback, or has received a surcharge payment demand, they should initiate the appropriate official procedure directly with the customer service department of Útdíj Üzletág. The options and conditions depend on the type of vignette, its validity and the circumstances of the case. Sections 5–6 apply to complaints concerning the Service Provider's own performance.
Please contact Útdíj Üzletág in advance for information on the procedure, the required documents, deadlines and any fees. Customer service can provide information on the in-person, electronic, telephone or video options available for the relevant type of case.

The availability of official procedures does not create an obligation for the Service Provider to issue a refund. Beyond the mandatory provisions applicable to it, the Service Provider does not undertake to conduct these procedures on the User's behalf or guarantee their outcome. This does not affect the User's claims based on mandatory law, in particular their rights relating to the Service Provider's defective, delayed or omitted performance.
